How accurate are the calories?
They are estimates. Mealshot judges each portion from the plate, bowl or cutlery in the photo, then uses typical nutrition values for that food. Hidden oil, butter and sauces can't always be seen, and portions in deep bowls are harder to judge. For the best results, shoot from above with the whole plate in the picture, and add a note such as "cooked in butter" or "large latte with oat milk". You can change any food, portion or number before you save the meal.
The same plate gave a different answer
The same photo always gives the same answer. Two different photos of one plate can differ a little, because the angle and light change what can be seen. Pick the result that looks right, or adjust the portion.
How is my daily goal calculated?
From your age, sex, height, weight and activity level (the Mifflin-St Jeor formula), adjusted for your goal and pace. Mealshot never sets a goal below 1,200 calories a day. You can change the goal at any time in Settings.
